Happy Inauguration Day!

So of course, as everybody knows, this is the big day. This is the day that I was so excited for. The day that my whole family has been waiting for. And I forgot to take the day off... But no matter, I will watch the ceremonies at work and be just as happy. I am so excited to see how happy my parents are. My mom and older sister are freezing in Washington right now but I would love to be with them. I just can't express the joy that I have right now.

I believe in Barack Obama. No, he won't be perfect. But I believe in him nonetheless. So happy inauguration day! And each celebrate in their own way.

Yes PeCan!

So today is a good day. I'm at work, grooving to Lalah Hathaway (Donny Hathaway's daughter who is extremely talented, go get it!) eating lunch and talking to J. Even though I would rather it be the weekend, I think life is pretty good right now.

My mother and older sister are going to Washington this weekend to attend the inauguration of the first African-American president. I don't think I have ever seen my parents so happy. I'm glad that they were given a chance to see it. I think only African-Americans can truly understand the significance of what is happening. Other races may recognize it, but to truly understand it as an African-American is mind-blowing. It's a deep feeling deep in your soul. Let's just say that I wish I was going but I'll have to live vicariously. Thank you President-elect Obama :) (Man, when will spellchecker stop trying to correct that man's name!)

But Ben and Jerry's has come up with a great way to commemorate the inauguration:

Yes PeCAN Ice Cream

Celebrate America’s opportunity for positive change with “Yes PeCAN” in participating Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops in January.

That's awesome :) Watch on Tuesday, you'll regret it if you don't :)

Interesting Word of The Day

I get a word of the day in my email and every now and then I get an interesting one. Here's one below that applies to J or I (sorry J :p)

xanthous \ZAN-thuhs\, adjective:

yellow; yellowish

King Elvis, who is not quite alert today, bares his rockin' soul on "Geraldo," yelling Michael Jackson's very unique, xanthous features complement zany daughter LisaMarie Presley.
-- The Atlantic, 1995-07-14

by 1829, from Greek xanthos "yellow," of unknown origin. Prefix form xantho- is used in many scientific words

Wicked was....well....Wicked!

So I have been off of the radar for the weekend. I've been busy people! Give me a break! J totally surprised me on Friday. So you know I LOOOOVE Daft Punk and they in coordination with an anime company produced a cartoon using their songs to tell the story. It was sooooooo good and I had just seen parts of it on You Tube. So J surprised me with the DVD! It's called Interstella 5555. Check it out, you won't be dissapointed.

Then I saw Wicked with J and my family on Friday and it was un-freakin-believable! Just having the soundtrack is one thing but actually being there and watching the show? I LOVED IT! What I didn't like was the gift shop charging $6 for a keychain, $13 for a coffee mug, and $35 for a t-shirt. Needless to say, I didn't buy anything. That would have been crazy. But I would definitely go and see it again if I had the opportunity. I can't say too much about it in case you want to see it but just take my word for it. It's great.

Then we went to visit my friend that I met in college and her family. She has two dogs, two beautiful girls, and a baby on the way. She is awesome! She does Zumba (very off topic comment but I think it's cool). Initially we were just going to stay there for the day and leave after dinner, but she and her husband (he's from England...waaaaayyyy cool accent) persuaded us with Guitar Hero, Hulk, and kettle popcorn. And then we were going to leave after the movie, then they persuaded us with waffles in the morning.....waffles. Yea we didn't end up leaving until the next day lol. But the best part is their girls LOVED my digital camera. I don't know what it is about kids and cameras. So instead of erasing all of the pictures that they randomly took, I kept them and put them online.

All the pictures from this weekend can be found in the album below. Enjoy! And I hope your New Year is going as good as mine!

Home is Where the Hearthstone Is

From Random Pictures 2009

We set our hearthstones to each other. Is not the geekiest and silliest and nerdiest and corniest thing ever? Mine is a necklace and his is a keychain.

Days Dramazzzz

So I'm a huge Days of our Lives fan. I've been watching it since my friend Ryan got me into it over 11 years ago. It's my guilty pleasure and I hate to even miss a day. Thank goodness for DVR.

So I know that you want to know the latest Days of Our Lives Drama. I don't know when the last time you looked at it, but you have to remember John and Marlena. Well J just dropped the bombshell on me. John and Marlena are fired! Gone! Kaput! They will be off the show this month. The whole reason has to be money. The reason is always money. But this is huge. It's sad cuz I kind of liked how feisty Marlena was getting. Somebody has to step it up and take her place! I won't tell how they go unless you want it to be a secret and all but if you know how soaps go, you can probably guess the obvious. I guess I'll just have to keep watching to find out what's going to happen next. Darn it Days! Stop keeping me trapped in your clutches!

It's 2009 You Crazy People!

Sorry I haven't written in a while. The holidays were crazy busy and then work has me hopping to catch up from all that time off. But I hope that you had a great New Year's and everything went as planned.

As for me, it was a great New Year's! I had dinner at Lynn's Paradise Cafe New Year's Eve and I got to eat in my PJ's!!! We had potato cakes with goat cheese, I had salmon, and J had Beef Burgundy. Amazing stuff! Then the next day was New Year's Day dinner with the traditional African-American food. Pork (for luck), black-eyed peas (for health), and collard greens (for money). It was an awesome time.

I am so excited for this year. This year will be full of good friends, good times, and so many weddings, mine included. I'm excited to see what 2009 will bring me. I think I will have a lot to be thankful for at the end of 2009. Well all the New Year's Pictures are available at the link below :) Happy New Year!
