Bonzi, Glad You Are No Longer My Buddy

So I have a confession to make. I used Bonzi Buddy. I used it when it first came out in 2000 and I had my first computer. A Gateway computer. That was horrible. In my defense I wasn't near the techie that I am now and can recognize it for what it is. Spyware, adware, malware.

But I have to admit, making him say dirty things, cuss words, and my name was kinda fun. I never bought anything for him (thank goodness). I laugh that I had it. Just another memory that I don't want to forget.

Ode to the Pistachio

O Pistachio, Pistachio.

You taste so sweet.

But why are the ugliest nut there is?

Shriveled and green, you should taste deplorable.

But yet, you have the faint flavor of potato chips.

Smooth pearly white on the outside, ugly green brown on the inside.

Like so many people in the world.

You keep on being ugly pistachio.

Less people that want you, more there is for me.

O Pistachio, Pistachio.

How Does It Feel to Be Official?

So yesterday was a really good day/night. Last night we went to J's boss's Christmas Party and it was really fun. All his coworkers crack me up and the food was awesome. Plus they had Midori which made my tongue very happy :) We played the white elephant gift exchange and since J and I bought nice gifts for it, we wanted nice gifts in return! We didn't get our first choice but we did end up with a hickory farms gift set and a board game. Not too shabby compared to what some other people got. (Can we say bald guyz shaving cream and a razor made to look like a car?)

But I do have to say, my flat feet are punishing me for wearing those heels yesterday. Darn my flat feet!

Plus what topped everything off was that J and I got our marriage license in the mail. It's really official now and it feels sooooo good. Now I'm wanting to change my name everywhere! As soon as I go to the social security office anyway. That's going to be awesome.

What about you? How did you feel when you got your marriage license in the mail?

If These People Weren't Dog People...

So I admit, I haven't been typing much. Not sure why. Everything has been going pretty darn well.

Had to deal with Metro Animal Services and the Kentucky Humane Society yesterday and it did not go too well at first.

Yesterday was the first day that you could apply for the dog parks here in Louisville and the permits go fast so we decided to be on the ball and get our application in. We looked at the requirements and saw that we had to have the rabies certification and the registration. We were kind of confused as to the registration part so I called and confirmed that it was the license which he had on his collar.

We were confused on how we were supposed to send that in and decided to call and renew it at Metro Animal Services since it was almost time to get one for 2010 anyway. We called and it had us nowhere in the system which thoroughly confused us. The woman on the phone got snippy and told us we would have to pay late fees even though we paid for a license when we adopted Toby.

We then called the Kentucky Humane Society where the person was entirely too bubbly and happy for the situation. They admitted that they messed up and that they would fax the appropriate paperwork to Metro Animal Services.

Metro Animal Services said they didn't receive the fax. We call back to Kentucky Humane Society and the woman has gone to lunch. Somebody else faxes the papers again. We show up in person at Metro Animal Services and they have gotten TWO faxes (surprise, surprise). They claim nothing that they had faxed would help. Somehow J said the right thing and we got charged no late fees.

This dog park better be awesome. That is all.

One Year Ago Today

One year ago today, something amazing happened. One year ago today, J asked me to marry him and become his wife.

I laugh still thinking about it. How I was totally surprised and how I hit him because he surprised me. I didn't think he was going to be able to surprise me. It's been an incredible journey this past year and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

In three weeks, we will come to the end of this journey and the start of another long one. I will become Mrs. Jerry Valentine and there's nothing in the world I would rather be. I love you baby. Happy Engagement Anniversary. Let's do this thing!

Scandal!

I looked at my reader for the Courier Journal and I see this article. It's about Louisville Male High School and it involves (wait for it).

He was the assistant principal when I was there but it still was just as funny. I remember Mr. Wilson well and I'm not going to say that I am totally shocked. But I am tickled to death in a funny sort of way. I had heard he was retiring but I guess not in a happy retirement kind of way.

Oh Mr. Wilson, what have you done. /giggle

Happy Birthday Mrs. Crocker!

It's my mom's birthday today! I won't reveal her age but let me tell you, she looks way younger than she is. I do have good genes. *brushes shoulders off*.

So we are starting off her birthday by going to church. For all of those who know me, I do not go to church. It's a personal choice since I don't agree with some of the things the church teaches. But I came for my mom because she always likes to have all of her girls with her (even though Danielle and Kimberly went to their other church but that's another story).

We're having dinner at the house later which will be nice. My mom is a wonderful woman. And even though she can drive me crazy sometimes I still love her. I know there are people out there who can't have their moms with them so I am grateful.

Happy Birthday Mom! You are Teh Awesome!

Lucky

I know I've probably posted on this before. But I have to say it again. Right now, I feel rich beyond all belief. And of course I'm not talking about money, because I don't have much of that at all.

I have my family. We are all so close and I love them so much. My sisters are my closest friends and I don't know what I would do without them. I am blessed to have parents who love us and love each other. I feel so wonderful to have them.

I have my friends. I have wonderful friends who are fiercely loyal and I never tire of their company. I can speak my mind without guilt and it's awesome to have a set of people around that make you feel good just by being with them.

I have my love. J is always there for me. He is the one who makes me smile every day and and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life as his wife. He's gentle, kind, funny and considerate. You judge a person by how they treat other people, not just how they treat you. He's amazing and I am so glad that he chose me.

So, I feel extremely lucky and rich. I've made a lot of mistakes in my past and a lot of times, I feel that I don't deserve the wealth that I have right now. Material possessions are nothing if you don't have people you care about by your side. Be thankful for what you have. Others surely have less.

Insane...yes...in the Membrane

Everything is so crazy here lately. Wedding planning is kicking into high gear so I don't have much time to breath, let alone post. But I promise you that I am still alive and kickin'. Just feeling a bit crazy and insane from all that I have to take care of.

I did have some thoughts the other day. When Patrick Swayze passed away, why in the heck were people joking about it? Yes, I know he's a celebrity and he lived in the public eye, but what gives people the gall to joke about him dying? That just pissed me off to no end the other day. I know everybody has different types of humor but that's just definitely not mine.

I'm so thankful for J for holding me down right now. He definitely makes this life worth living. Thanks Babe :)

P.S. Had some crab rangoon that was fan-freakin-tastic!

The Two Perfect

I saw the two of the most perfect for each other people get married this past weekend. I usually am not a crier, but as they danced their first dance and she danced with her father, the tears flowed. They were so beautiful and so true. You could tell their love was the real thing and I was glad to be able to witness it.

Whoever you love, make sure you love them to the fullest. Give them your all and never let them go. I am feeling sentimental at the moment, so forgive me. Time for me to get a hug from the one that I love to the fullest.

Inspired

I don't know why I feel the way I feel right now and I can hardly explain it. There are so many things I want to accomplish with my life. But unfortunately, I can't do them all. It's the little thing called money. So I have to pick and choose what I would like to do. I think each year I will pick something wonderful and fantastic that I want to do. And I will accomplish it within that year. I feel inspired.

Woman in the Mirror

This is a post that I have been hesitant to write. This is a post that forces me to be brutally honest to myself. I will confront things and admit things that I usually wouldn't do.

I also hesitate to write it because there are others that would be happy at my misfortune or laugh at my sadness. I really didn't want to feed that but then I realized that this post is about me. And not about them.

So why post? Because I think that other people might be in the same boat and I want them to know that they are not alone. Because sometimes, I feel really alone in dealing with this. This post is about my weight.

Before someone immediately jumps to conclusions and say, stop eating what you want and work out and stop being lazy, maybe stop and read what I'm going to say.

I have always had a problem with my weight. I have never been extremely overweight but I've always weighed more than my friends which made it hard sometimes. When they would pinch the skin of their sides and proclaim themselves fat or that they needed to lose weight, that did not have a positive effect on my self-image.

My weight has fluctuated up and down depending on what I am going through. When I am happy, I tend to gain weight. When I am sad and stressed, I tend to lose. When I am feeling good, my weight increases and it's hard to keep it down.

A couple of years ago, I went through a really bad time and my weight plummeted. I lost 30 pounds in a month. It was very unhealthy but I didn't do it intentionally. But I did like how I looked at the end.

I have gained all of that back plus some more for good measure. I look at myself and it's hard to tell myself that I like how I look. Because I really don't. Reminders of how I want to look are everywhere. Every woman I see, I compare myself to. And I seem to keep coming up lacking.

I have said in my mind so many times. Ok, instead of thinking about it, do it. Eat healthy and exercise. But this quickly digresses and I end up not doing it or I end up making excuses. There are physical reasons why I can't lose weight and to those women I want to let them know they are not alone.

I do have a problem with eating what I want. I have an impulse problem which tends to bleed out into every facet of my life. If I want something, I tend to do it without thinking of the consequences. I have managed to not let this disrupt my personal life, but I still allow this in other areas of my life which is not a good idea.

A very big reason why I have problems losing weight is that I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. There are a lot of symptoms but one of these is weight gain and difficulty losing weight. I am taking medication for it but it doesn't really help the symptoms even though my dosage has been increased.

And the third thing is that I HATE exercise. I have tried gyms, weights, tae bo, running and I hate it all. I have tried pilates or zumba so those are also possibilities but I'm not sure if I have enough time to do those.

So here I am, overweight and not happy with myself. Yes I have an actual disorder that keeps me from losing weight like other people, that does not mean I have to be stuck at my weight. I refuse to use that as an excuse. So I have to do it. Somehow. I really want to like what I see in the mirror.

So any other woman who is in the same place as me, just know you are not alone. And it can be done. Support is out there for those who need it.

I feel like I am rambling now and this is one of the longest posts I have ever posted. But my goal is slow and steady and not fret over every single pound. Thanks to all that support me and stand by me and tell me I am beautiful the way I am.

Lame Co-Worker Joke #3

(This guy just keeps giving me ammunition to work with! R.I.P Ted Kennedy. I honestly don't know a lot about his politics and policies but I could feel the respect and love that a lot of people feel for him so that part saddens me. Now on to my lame coworker joke that relates to this.)

(Seeing the book that I was reading).

Lame Co-worker: Oh! Terry Brooks! I read him about a hundred years ago!

Co-Worker #1: Oh I didn't know you were that old.

Lame Co-Worker: Oh you didn't know? I was Ted Kennedy's godfather!

Meet Up!

Just got done getting dressed for meetup with guildies in Nashville. This should be a blast! Then going to party with my friend Adrienne tonight. It's going to be a good day.

We dropped Toby off at Petsmart for doggy day care. It was funny because he didn't give us a second glance back as we left. (or even a first!) We love that our dog is independent. Clinginess is not good.

You all have a great weekend and enjoy it to the fullest! Pics and news when I come back.

Lame Co-Worker Joke #2

Team Lead: I mean everybody has a first name! Even if he only had one name like Prince. I would call him Prince Prince. Or Cher Cher!

Everybody: (laughs)

Lame Coworker: Cher and Cher Alike! (chuckles to himself)

Lame Co-Worker Joke of the Day

Describing an establishment that just had lettuce for a salad with no other additions.

Vacation Can't be Over :(

So I think I didn't want to write about my vacation being over because I'm in denial (I really am). I had such a great time I didn't want it to end. And now I am anticipating the next vacation. Even more so because I will get to take it with my husband! (I can't believe I'll be married then.)

The drive down was uneventful and I proudly drove my part. Thursday night we finally found a place to eat after a series of unfortunate setbacks but it worked out because it was Uno's. And we had potato skin pizza. Can we say mmmmmm good?

Friday, it was cloudy but we and my family and sister enjoyed chillin on the beach.

Saturday, we caught fish. And more fish. And more fish. My mom is having a fish fry. I WILL be in attendance.

Sunday was a leisure drive home and ended with playing video games that night.

Monday was a recuperating day. Everyone should take one of those after a vacation.

This was an amazing day as usual. Kind of sad that I missed my good friends getting married this past weekend but they understand. now looking forward to my good friends Adrienne and Cole's wedding. And then on to mine! Wow time is flying. Good to be back (in a very small way) but I know I will need a vacation by November.

Love ya!

Vacation....Bring It On!

I have been soooo busy lately. I haven't posted but I have been thinking about posting. Does that count?

Well I've been having a lot of fun with J and planning for the wedding. I scheduled a room to get ready in before the wedding. I would have liked to stay in a hotel but I save $350 this way. I think that's the correct way to go.

I bought my flowers for the bridesmaids bouquets and I love them! This is going to be a DIY job so I get to try to make my own bouquets. It should be interesting.

J and I have been spending a lot of quality time which I think is the right away to go. Sometimes we just get off the game and chill out to a movie or just talk. I love that I keep finding out awesome things about J.

I moved to a new building at work. I moved to the 2nd floor temporarily, and then I'm going to the sixth floor. I like the view at the 2nd floor though. Nice flow of traffic along Market Street. If you are ever in Louisville and see the new skyscraper they built at Market and 9th, I'll be coding up on the Sixth floor.

Tomorrow morning we are off to vacation. Even if it's supposed to rain and we are taking Toby with us (actually, that's a good thing!), I think that we are going to have an awesome time.

Here's to me blogging more on a regular basis. I know you miss me and I'll try to fuel your addiction more, I promise ;)

What If Your Child Is Gay?

So I came across this video on one of the blogs that I read regularly:

http://mightygirl.com/2009/08/05/what-if-your-kid-is-gay/

And this had me thinking, what if my child is gay? J knows my views on homosexuals and they are really liberal. To me, if someone can find love and get it reciprocated, who am I to tell them that it's wrong? I was raised Baptist but thanks to my parents, I never saw homosexuality as wrong.

If my child was gay, I would feel the same way. But I would feel for them. The hardships from being gay are definitely real. I would worry about them getting teased at school or discriminated against. I would worry that if he does find love, he would not be given the right to get married.

I want everything for my kids that i didn't have (as most parents do). I will want my kids to be happy no matter what. If my kids were gay, it would not matter in the slightest and I wouldn't love them any less. I would not be ashamed of them or hide their sexual preference any more than I would if my child was straight. What about you? Have you thought about you would do if your child was gay?

How Do You Exercise?

I read an article today on Yahoo that says tests have shown that exercise is having the opposite effect on weight gain that one would expect.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20090806/hl_time/08599191485700

The calories that people were losing while exercising were being gained back after the person exercised and had an intense craving for something to eat. These people were going to get french fries, muffins, burgers all the while making excuses that they can eat that because they just worked out.

So working out only works if 1) You can ignore the temptation which means you are miserable. 2) You work out sooooo much that what you eat doesn't matter.

Neither of these sound like something I would be into. I suppose eating healthy snacks after working out can help but I have a problem with saying no to things so saying no to a food I really want would be rough.

So my weight loss plan (however slow it might be) is going to be eating sensibly. I will NOT deprive myself of sweets totally or this will just make me binge on Pie Kitchen. I will make sure to get daily moderate exercise (thanks to Toby). I won't get my weight down fast but I know it will happen. And I will be healthy. Which is the most important.

I know a lot of people will disagree with the article stating their own results and that's fine. I think that each person is different and must approach their weight loss and health at their own pace and their own way.

Health to all. That's all that matters.

And It Came

There was a horrible thunderstorm today. I didn't know how bad it was going to be but it was bad. As I was driving into work, Indiana was across the river on my right and Kentucky was on my left. The sky around Kentucky was a little darker than normal for 7:30 but not too much so. But the sky on the Indiana side was black as night. It was sooo weird looking. I was hoping I would get to work before the storm started.

After parking in the parking garage, I was walking to my work and it looked like it was 9 at night. It was a bit odd and I hurried in before the rain started. And oh did it start. It was thundering, lightning, and hailing. There was 6-8 inches of water in one hour. EVERYTHING flooded. My parents basement, Churchill downs, the University of Louisville. It was almost like half the city was under water.

Even the basement of the new skyscraper they are building for my work flooded. And it lost power. The people that had already moved over there had to come over to our building and the customer service reps had to use our cubicles because they were actually fielding calls from customers. So, we sat around for four hours and did nothing until they finally sent us home.

So. September was a wind storm. January was an ice storm. August was the thunderstorms. So I figure we have something to deal with earth next. Dust storm? Earth quake? /shrug. Look on the news if you want to see all the crazy stuff. :)

But it's calmer now and I can only hope that it's all over.

Glasses No More!

J just got fitted with contacts today. He is trying them out for a week to see if he likes them. He has always been a little afraid of sticking things in his eye but he did great.

Weirdly I want to wear contacts. I have no idea why I would want them. So I get to live through him. That's another reason why I love him :)

37 Years...It Can Be Done

From Family

This is a couple of days late but I've been lacking on posting for some reason. I am so proud of my parents. They have been married 37 years as of two days ago. They are amazing mates and parents.

They met in a library at college and he charmed her. He had the boyish smile. She was the campus bell ringer. I see pictures of my parents at that age and I just smile. They are as cute as they are now. I see them lying on the couch together cuddled up like teenagers and I can't help but smile.

My parents are wonderful and they are amazing. So Happy Anniversary Arnold and Cynthia Crocker. Through all the trials and tribulations, you all have stood by each other's side. I look up to them in so many ways. Thanks Mom and Dad.

Pursuing Your Happyness

I watched this movie for the first time today. I am so blown away. So blown away. I hardly have words. I hardly ever cry. Rarely. But this movie made me cry...and I mean I cried. I usually cry on movies that are based on true stories because it affects me to know that it really happened.

This movie reminded me that everything I have, I should be grateful for. I have so much. And every time I think that I don't have enough something rocks me back to earth and I realize how I have sooo much. I don't own a house, I have a late model car, and I don't have the latest in fashion.

But I have my health, somebody who will always believe in me and stand by me, and I have my family. I have everything that somebody needs in life. I have food, shelter, clothing, and my peace of mind.

I don't need "things" to prove that I have a good life. Yes, "things" are nice. But I think where I would be without the things that make me happy but with the "things" that people covet.

When a movie makes you reflect on your life you know it's a good one. This is one that touches my heart and helps me see what's important. Life is too short for pettiness. We are all humans and make mistakes. Just being a good person is what matters. So to all who read this, make sure you are good to your fellow man. Life is too short to not be nice. Just...be...nice.

Rain...Ha! You were Too Late!

So it rained today. Before my company picnic and after. So it didn't spoil my day any! I had an awesome time. Ate good food, had a great time with friends and scored some awesome stuff at the Huber's farm gift shop. I pet some goats and watched people catch baby catfish. Good times.

Make sure to head on over to J and I's blog http://jandnay.blogspot.com. Pictures and video of India Arie and and John Legend there. Plus you should be reading it anyway. Everybody needs another blog to read.

Work Is Becoming A War Zone

We have lazy people at work who instead of putting their dishes in the dishwasher, put them in the sink. I have no idea why they do this. A attribute it to laziness. So that leads to signs like this (click to see larger version):

Rapper Feud!!!

So on my way to work this morning, I was listening to NPR as usual and there was an awesome interview that I didn't expect. An expert in foreign policy, Mark Lynch relates the world of rapping to foreign policy.

I loved how knowledgeable this guy was about rap and how interesting he made foreign policy sound. I could totally see this being a lesson in any high school or college. Give it a listen, I promise you won't be disappointed and it's only about 8 minutes long.

Happy Birthday Crocker Sisters!

From Danielle and Kim's Graduation

So yesterday was Danielle and Kimberly's birthday and today was Deidre's birthday. My sisters are so awesome and I couldn't ask for better sisters. They are always amazing and I love hanging out with all of them!

Today we went out for dinner with the whole family, my cousin and her kids included. Twelve people! Which is a lot for us. The twins racked up (cha-ching!) and I loved spending time with them.

Afterwards was Graetar's for ice cream. J's turtle sundae was lame however...sorry babe.

I love you guys!

Scott Finds His Voice

I read an amazing article today. It's about how Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert lost his voice, and through a lot of failures, trial and error, and persistence, he found it again.

http://www.wired.com/medtech/health/magazine/17-08/ff_adams?currentPage=1

The article is here. This story touched off a lot in me for some reason. I can be a persistent person. I believe persistence leads to getting what you want. But there are things in life that I am persistent about but not so much others. This article reminds me that if I want something, I have to really want it and work for it. Even through a lot of failures and setbacks, if it's something I really want and I'm working for, it will happen. And if it doesn't happen, it will help me prepare for the future.

So, I'm letting you know. If there is something you want. And you thought it impossible and people told you that it would never happen. Make up your mind, right here, right now, that you will get it. Work towards it and never give up. You will make it happen. Believe it.

Meatballs...and I Don't Mean The Movie

So I made homemade spaghetti and meatballs today. Was a little wary since I had never made meatballs before and I think I was scared to mess them up because I LOVE meatballs. But if I must say, they turned out wonderfully.

Ingredients:

1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs (I used regular)
1/3 cup water (more or less)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 medium onion (optional, I had none today)
1 bell pepper (optional, I didn't have any of this either /cry)
garlic
salt
pepper
*I also added basil and italian seasoning
Preparation:

Mix all ingredients together. Don't add all of the water at one time. Mixture should be moist but not so that the meatballs fall apart.

From July 2009

Shape meatballs to desired size and place on a broiler pan (I wet my hands before shaping each meatball and it helps make a nice meatball.) Broil until outside is slightly brown on one side and then turn and broil the other side.

When finished, add to spaghetti sauce and simmer at least 20 minutes.

Break It Down Now

So last night I had a complete break down. It was about something that I didn't know that I was feeling inside and like most of my feelings, they burst out all at once.

I consider myself a stable person so when this happens it scares me. My feelings are even keel and I don't normally go off the deep end. And I don't usually cry. You can ask J about that.

But last night, there was an issue that I didn't know that I had been wrestling with and it came to the surface. I had a break down of sorts. And J was there for me. I didn't know what I would have done if he hadn't of been.

He was EXACTLY who I needed at that moment. He let me be me and get it all out there. That's why I love him and that's one of the reasons why I'm so glad I'm marrying him. He is amazing. Thanks J.

Chicken Fried Rice Recipe

I have gotten many requests for the chicken fried rice recipe so I'm going to post it here. Also, I think I will continue to post recipes here so all can share in the eating :)

The recipe calls for bacon but I took the slightly healthier alternative and used extra virgin olive oil to keep the veggies from sticking and it worked just as well. I doubled the recipe so I could have leftovers! Serve with eggrolls and sake for maximum effect :) I boiled the chicken for about fifteen minutes and that worked out great. Happy eating!

From July 2009

Note: This recipe can be highly customizable. Add or delete whatever you like. Have fun!

Easy Chicken Fried Rice
3 strips of bacon diced OR extra virgin olive oil (for healthier option)
1/2 red bell pepper diced
1 Egg beaten
4 tablespoons of Soy Sauce
1/4 cup scallion finely chopped
1/8 cup peas (frozen or fresh)
2 cups cooked rice (cold)
2 cups chicken cooked (shredded or cubed, your preference)

If you use the bacon: Cook the bacon in a wok (a pot or large pan works just as well) until crisp. Remove the bacon (if you used it). Add the extra virgin olive oil (if you chose healthy!) and saute the scallions, red bell pepper, and peas for 1 minute. Add the egg and scramble. Stir in the rice, chicken, bacon (optional), and soy sauce. (Add more more or less soy according to taste). Serve immediately.

Fixed My Chinese Craving

Usually when J and I have a craving for Chinese, we usually hit up the Chinese fast food place up the street. It sounds good in theory, but often as I'm eating it, I'm wondering....why did I get this?

So this time, instead of taking the easy way out I decided to make my own chinese. Voila!

This American Life

J has gotten me addicted to the show This American Life. It's a show that gives three stories in documentary form. They are amazing stories and in your face. It started off as a radio show and now it's a television show. If you have Netflix you can stream it. Give it a chance. I really really urge you.

This Is Saying Something To Me

Something about this screams asshole to me. What do you think?

The Breakup

Now, now before you go getting upset, I'm not talking about J and I. And I'm not talking about the movie either. I'm talking about....a comic book. Superman/Batman specifically. I have decided to break up with one of my comic books and believe me, for a collector like me, it's not an easy decision.

The relationship started off hesitantly for I was a Marvel and it was a DC. But it brought me in with it's compelling stories so I bought into it and read. For over 60 issues. But the time has come where i have to say goodbye to Superman/Batman. They have become silly and uninteresting. Now every issue is about alternate realities and yes, I know DC is into that sort of thing but it's not really my deal anymore.

So goodbye Superman/Batman. I hope you find someone who can appreciate you for what you are.

Late Adopter

The title of the blog and the comic below didn't used to describe me when it comes to video games but I think it's starting to. I used to be up on all the latest games, consoles, and even got the gaming magazines and read them cover to cover. But now I don't have the time, energy or money to keep up so this makes me laugh. It reminds me of a time when I used to play computer and console games other than WoW. If there were ten more hours in the day, I still would. But I have fun playing WoW so that's where I am. When I get tired of it, I will drag my old PS2 out and have fun playing my old games that are gathering dust. Then I will buy a PS3 when I'm done with those. Expensive console problem solved. *dusts off hands*

Awesome Fourth and a Freaky Dog

I had an awesome fourth with the family as usual. D (Danielle's boyfriend) brought his little sister over to the house and we were our crazy selves. i love how we don't put on airs when people we don't know come around. We act like ourselves and we welcome people into our home.

We had awesome BBQ (thanks Mom and Dad!) and generally chilled out with everybody. I'm glad I went over there even though it was a rainy day.

Our dog freaked the heck out though. He was never fond of large noises so we knew the fourth was going to be kinda bad for him. He took to either hiding under one of our chairs or in the closet. I felt so bad for him. We had to take him to at least try to pee that night. That didn't happen at all. He spent most of the time trying to get back home.

That night we had drinks with Danielle, Kim, D, and Sabrina. Cheddar's was out of melon for their Midori Sours *facepalm*. So after I had a Tahitian Sunrise, J was awesome and took me over to Buckheads for a Midori. It was sooooo good. That is my premiere drink. I will probably have to take a trip to the liquor store.

Overall, the kind of fourth I like. Chilled out and fun. Here's to another great fourth.

Spinelli's Once Again

Spinelli's Pizza is as much about the atmosphere as it is about the pizza. When you first walk in the first thing you notice is there are two spliced backs of a huge Cadillac that firms a booth. You actually have to open the doors to get in. We ordered pizza by the slice and fountain drinks. The back dining room speaks the most about the place. The floors are pieces of stone, pottery, and mirrors laid together.

The walls have paintings (including an intimate one of Tom Selleck).

One of the walls is covered in comic book covers which I loved because I love comic books.

There is even a Zoltan machine sans the movie Big.

The chicken fingers were good but a bit of fair warning the blue cheese tastes like mayo.

The slices were bigger than I remembered and what my fiancé expected. They were foldable and excellent with a little salt and Parm added.

One slice was more than enough. I will definitely go back.

More Cherries Please

So I decided to bake a cherry cobbler yesterday. I went and looked for cherry pie filling and I came across two cans of cherry pie filling. One said cherry pie filling and the other said Extra cherry pie filling.

From July 2009

J and I were bit confused on what exactly was extra in the pie filling. A kind woman informed us that there were more cherries in the extra cherry instead of goop. We got a can of each.

So I made the cobbler. With three ingredients. It was soooo simple.

From July 2009

I thought it turned out perfect if I do say so myself.

From July 2009

We had it with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. PERFECT!

J Pulls A Thing Every Day

So J is blogging every day about the things that he's pulling everyday. No, it's not dirty. It's the 365 Things That I Love About Him and Us birthday present. He pulls out a new thing every day and he's been blogging about it.

Not just that, but then he tells things that he loves about me! I totally didn't expect that but I love it. Plus I find the things that I find weird about me, he loves.

Good times.

Bring On The Scallops!

So J and I had an awesome Sunday.

Cookies for breakfast and then we chilled out for a bit. We then went to run some errands while dropping by the comic book store and the grocery.

We came home and caught up on some comic book reading (Ares is crazy in War Machine!). It was so awesome to just chill out. I took Toby for a brisk mile walk and we decided to cook an awesome meal. We decided to have seared scallops, baked potato, and salad.

Here they are all sizzling in a pan. J did an awesome job.

Then here's the table set up. My signature baked potatoes included. You wonder how a simple baked potato could be signature. If you are the ones who have had one, you know.

John Legend and India Arie! It's gonna be hot!

J and I got tickets to see John Legend with India Arie but we actually got it for the India Arie part. Most of the time people get tickets because of the headliner but we got it for the opening act. We LOVE her and her voice touches my soul so it's worth it. I mean, John Legend is "aight". I liked his first album better than his latest stuff.

So the concert is outside rain or shine at the Horseshoe Casino (former Caesar's Casino). It's going to be HOT (I think) but at least it's at 8:00 so it would have cooled down a little. I'm anticipating a lot of fun plus is the first concert that J and I have really been to together. A little bit of wedding trivia babe? Going to have an awesome time :)

Bourbon Brings Nightmares

Last night we had an amazing time at Adrienne and Cole's Wedding Shower. It was a blast and I enjoy hanging with Kral's. That's only been the second true time I've seen them but they make you feel like family.

Michelle (Adrienne's sister) made all the food and I was so proud of her! My favorites were the asiago cheese turkey sandwiches and the chocolate torte. My mouth was VERY happy.

There was also good company who I hadn't met before (can we say Latino Heat), and also good company who I met again (Rich and Rob, always a pleasure). It was an awesome time.

They had amazing bourbon slushies. I don't normally drink any hard stuff but man, it didn't even taste like hard liquour. J and I both had a couple of cups and my dreams reflected it. Suffice it to say that it was weird enough that I can blame it on the alcohol.

Thanks everybody and I can't wait to do it again!
